Don't forget test & tune & tech on Sunday June 8th. Starts at 11:00 AM. We'll be testing out the modifications that were done to the sled. The next tech in will be at the Saffordville pull on Saturday June 14th. The pull will start at 2 PM and tech will start at 10:30 AM. Please don't show up 20 minutes til 2 and expect to pull without being teched, because it won't happen.
The new contact number for the FHTPA is: 785-766-2133. The old number is no longer a working number.
To respond to some of the latest blog messages, I would just like to indicate on the subject of safety requirements, that a few years ago the club was still trying to grow legs and walk. We were compelled to show some leniency in some areas due to the fact that most of our trucks were still street driven and some even daily drivers. Things have changed since the first couple of years, and the club has adopted a zero tolerance rule on safety. I can remember a few years back when some members had a "that's not going to happen to me attitude", until a clutch and pressure plate explosion brought reality to light. I think the driver of that particular truck, along with other club members, became believers in the growing push for safety. The tranny blanket wrapped around the bellhousing did its job in containing the debris from the explosion, but it was obvious that it was time to require even more protection from just such an occurance or even worse. Before the start of the 2008 pulling season, all member trucks will undergo a tech and safety inspection. If the truck has not been teched, arrangements must be made(by the driver) ahead of time in order for the truck to be inspected before it pulls. Safety is not something that can be overlooked. One accident could be disastrous in many ways. It takes everyone to make this a safe and successful organization, so lets band together and be proud of our club and its accomplishments. Ron
